As part of Māori Language Week 2014, Victoria launched its own booklet to help staff and student use more reo Māori in their everyday activities. Tertiary Teaching Excellence Award for Māori Academic at Victoria

Congratulations to Dr Ocean Mercier for winning a national Tertiary Teaching Excellence Award 2012. Ocean, of Ngāti Porou, began teaching in 2001 and has worked at undergraduate and postgraduate level in Science and Māori Studies. Her teaching career has been distinguished by pioneering work at the interface of Māori and western science, resulting in courses at 100 and 300 levels at Te Kawa a Māui at Victoria University. She blends the traditional with the modern by including new technology and teaching methods within Māori tertiary teaching practice. Read more at [2]
