Responsibilities and Professional Activities

Irina specialises in the course, teaching and learning design, with an emphasis on effective use of digital technology in academic contexts. Irina is interested in measuring the effect of educational practice on teacher and student behaviour. Irina's research areas include technology-mediated communication, learning and teaching (including CALL), science of learning, academic reading and writing, and lexical development in a second language. She conducts interdisciplinary research that combines research methods from education and cognitive psychology. Irina welcomes applications for supervision in these areas.

Irina teaches on the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Learning and Teaching and the Master's Programme in Applied Linguistics and TESOL (School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies). Irina also teaches a language and diction paper in the New Zealand School of Music.
