What is useful during the lecture

During the lecture what, ideally, do you think students should be doing? Taking their own notes? Adding to a PowerPoint notes page? Listening and not trying to take notes as well? Adding notes to an outline or hand-out that you have given them? Think about how you envisage students engaging with your lecture material and how you might be able to use both your lecture and your support material to encourage them to engage in this way. Once again this is a universal design approach that is good for all students but may particularly benefit students from diverse backgrounds as it provides a structure for them to follow if they want to do so.
