What is useful after the lecture

After the lecture, students will benefit from reviewing the lecture experience in some way. If English is not their first language, or if they have a disability of some kind, they may rely on the work they do after the lecture to develop a full understanding of what was said during the lecture. Does the support material you supply help them to do this? There can be a real tension here: very full detailed PowerPoint notes may be great after the lecture but because they are too dense and difficult to read during the lecture they may be distracting, conversely animation, video and images may be truly useful and illustrative during the lecture while the lecturer is present and talking about them, but may not be very useful for the student’s self study and revision.
