Feedback to students

Feedback is one of the most important factors in students’ progress at university Orsmond et al. 2011 and is a vital part of the two way communication between learner and teacher. It is an area that students feel strongly about, and one in which they express a need for clear, explicit statements about their work. Bloxham and Campbell (2010) report on an interesting initiative in the UK to highlight and strengthen the two-way communication inherent in giving feedback on students’ work. The standard assignment cover sheet was augmented by a section in which students specified the areas in which they wanted feedback.
